The End or The Beginning

March 2, 2008

I totally enjoyed this journey.  Although I have doing quite a few of those 2.0 stuff, glad to learn new things.  I simply enjoy learning new things.  So participate in any upcoming discovery programs.

I think the course is well structured.  I like the discovery resources part.  Just hope the discovery exercise section would be identical to that on the checklist.  Some exercises require us to create a blog, but no posting of permalink on the checklist or vice versa.

I was wondering what the next wave is going to be after web 2.0.  3.0??

Netlibrary Audiobooks

March 2, 2008

Somehow, the link to Audiobooks is not that apparent on netlibrary.com.  I don’t seem to find it, so I used the  downloadable eAudiobooks link.  I only saw details for the audiobook, don’t see any links to listen to it.  Perhaps I missed something again.

Glad to see the interface is available in other languages.

Podcast

March 1, 2008

I checked out the two directories:o Podcast411

o Podcastalley.com

found 1 podcast and blogined it.  The wealth of information in various formats, including podcast, is simply overwhelming.

YouTube

March 1, 2008

I have been abusing youtube already and totally enjoying it.  Not sure where to find the short code??  Is it the embed code?  The embed code is certainly not short.  Anyhow, here is the url to the video I like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVn-iX3LmCA.

Here is another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y71OPKtCRpA&feature=related.

Given the porn viewing issue at the library, I searched for “nude” and saw 133,000 results.  I clicked on one of them and was asked to verify I am not minor by logging in or signing up.  This certainly deters me from going any further.  What a hassle for simply watching a video.

Discovering Web 2.0 tools

March 1, 2008

I checked out quite a few ones in various categories, such as mapping, video, retail, and organization on the winners list.  Really impressed with the development in 2.0 tools.

I was just wondering how these winners were determined.  Take Photos and Digital Images for example, Flickr is featured in this 2.0 course, yet I have been using Picasa, since somehow, the software got installed on my laptop and find it pretty cool!  Ditch one for the other?  Or I guess it does not hurt to have the best of both worlds.

Online Apps

February 29, 2008

I have been using Google doc.  Glad to learn about other web apps, like Zoho.  Zoho certainly looks a lot more sophisticated than Google.

Zoho’s layout is pretty much like Word.

And I have just tried publishing it to blog.  Wow, it went through in a jiffy.  How cool!  What a raddy tool!

Wow it automatically updated my post.  Awesome!

I have just tried exporting it as an html doc.  Doesn’t look much different though.

PBWiki

February 28, 2008

Somehow, I am lost with this session.  First off, what’s PBwiki?  I was perplexed till I saw the description at the bottom.  So it’ s a tool for us to write a wiki page.

Also somehow, I was having trouble creating a login account on PLCMC Learning 2.0 wiki using the password PLCMC on the page.  Hmmm…

Wiki

February 28, 2008

Glad to know that there are tracking tools within wikis as I never paid attention to them before, as I still have misgivings when using wiki info.  Since anybody can post anything, you would hope the info would be accurate.

I checked out all those wiki examples listed.  Most of them apparently have the same layout (using the same software?) as Wikipedia that I am most familiar with.  Yet it might be a bit boring, compared with “Using Wikis to Create Online Communities.”

As for library applications of wiki, really need to think about it.

Library 2.0

February 27, 2008

I certainly see Library 2.0 happening at ACL already.

Could be a great tool to help us plan and operate library programs–one of many other ways of utilizing Library 2.0.

Technorati

February 27, 2008

Tried a search there, yet did not see the results in the specified categories: Blog posts, in tags and in the Blog Directory??

Also checked out the popular section, and amazed that Boing Boing is the most popular.

My question is how would you have time to read all these blogs, talking about information explosion?
