Del.icio.us

February 27, 2008 by juilanliu

Del.icio.us is certainly a nifty tool.  Yet I have been using something similar for a while–Furl, which is also recommended by other librarians.  How is Del.icio.us better than Furl?  I guess I need to find out about ways to export my stuff from Furl to Del.icio.us?

Both are certainly wonderful tools for research at least.

I set up an account with Del.icio.us, yet can’t add the button/bookmarklet to the browser, since I would need the administrator status to install the software.

This certainly is a fascinating tool.  I created one called “Cheap Movie Tickets” at:

http://www.rollyo.com/dashboard.html.  Hope you can view it there??

I could certainly see great potential uses for a tool like this.  Kinda like a one stop searching for any topics of interest.

A thing about LibraryThing

February 26, 2008 by juilanliu

It keeps saying to help create a library for “books.”  What about AV materials?

I then clicked on the Search button and ran a tag search for jet li and found his movies in the collection.  Yet, when I tried adding “books” by searching for jet li, only books came up–none of his movies.  Quite confusing.  Plus there does not seem to be any way to add more than one book at a time, as I have tried holding down Shift key or Ctrl key.  You can only add one title at a time, which could be a nuisance.

My library is at: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/juilanliu

Play around with Image Generators

While I like all three listed, The Generator Blog would be my favorite, esp. the Paparazzi Pic Generator.–it’s hilarious.

Finding Feeds

February 25, 2008 by juilanliu

i tried all those suggested feed searching tools and kinda like them all.  Granted they are not the same, nor were the search results.  It certainly is good to ahve a variety of tools.  Bloglines seems most versatile, as it searches in posts, feeds, citations and the web!

Blog about Technology

February 21, 2008 by juilanliu

what can i say about technology?  i guess i don’t need to say much because it’s speaking for itself.  it’s everywhere in our lives.  we simply can’t live without them.  i have just read about blu-ray’s victory.  just wonder how it won the battle.  i am also wondering what to do about the upcoming digital tv era.  i know i need to get something for sure.

yeah, technology, can’t live w/o it.  and thanks to it, our lives are much better and more fun.

Really impressed with the mashups and the tools.  Wow, there is so much you can do with flickr.  I am really enjoying this 2.0 lessons.
